Maria Bamford

What young stand-up comedian/actress was able to marry John Travolta in the feature film Lucky Numbers, teach Jenna Elfman how to play the violin on Dharma and Greg, and make out with Jon Cryer on ABC’s The Trouble with Normal? The one and only: Maria Bamford. A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Maria started her stand up career performing at comedy clubs in Minneapolis before relocating to Hollywood in the late 90’s. Her unique character-based quirky performance style quickly serparated her from the pack. Banford’s career took off with notable perfomances at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen and multiple late-night appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. In 2005, she triumphantly returned to Australia with a month of sold-out performances of her one-woman show Plan B. Bamford stars in the Comedy Central series, The Comedians of Comedy, based on the documentary. Bamford is also the first female comic to have two Comedy Central Presents half-hour specials and was listed as Variety’s Top Ten Comics to Watch. She’s been the talk of Montreal, Edinburge, Aspen, Kilkenny and Melbourne Comedy Festivals.
